Standing water
Ponding that appears every spring and lingers is the Flathead Valley's signature complaint — high groundwater plus flat or bowl-shaped grading. Some standing water is a grading fix; some is groundwater that grading can't cure, which changes what's worth spending. Telling the two apart is the first job.

Standing water that persists may be a wetland, and wetlands carry federal and state permitting consequences that no amount of excavation removes. If water sits year-round or supports wetland vegetation, get a delineation before any earthwork. Work in or near a perennial stream requires a permit before the machine arrives.
