Pasture reclamation, field and ditch maintenance, access work, and vegetation control on working ground. Two things govern most agricultural work in this valley: Montana puts the noxious-weed control duty on the landowner, and work that alters a perennial stream needs a permit before the machine arrives. Both are manageable when they are planned around rather than discovered mid-job.

- Heavy mowing, brush cutting, and vegetation control
- Irrigation ditch and drainage maintenance
- Access lane and two-track clearing and repair
- Fence-line clearing
- Timber-edge and encroachment control
- Storm and windfall debris removal
- Surface restoration and reseeding
What governs the work
Before the machine arrives
The weed duty is yours, and the county will not do it for you
Montana law makes it unlawful to let noxious weeds propagate or go to seed, and a landowner is considered compliant by following the county district's management programme or a signed agreement. The Flathead County Weed Control District administers that programme and manages county rights-of-way, but it does not treat private property — the duty and the work both stay with the owner.
Ditch and stream work needs a permit first
Any private party altering the bed or immediate banks of a perennially-flowing stream must obtain a 310 permit from the local conservation district before starting. There is no fee, processing runs 30 to 90 days, and an approved permit is valid for one year. A stream de-watered each year by irrigation is still perennial for this purpose — seasonal dryness does not remove the requirement.
Timing beats method on regrowth
Cutting after seed set spreads what you were trying to control, and equipment moving between parcels carries seed with it. A cut planned around the growth stage of what is actually there beats a cut planned around a calendar. Disturbed ground is also where invasive species establish, so reclamation and revegetation belong in the same plan.
Where our scope ends
Water rights, irrigation district rules, and conservation-district permitting are the owner's to hold. We work inside them and will tell you when a scope needs a permit you do not yet have.
